Jesus Lizard headlines new music festival Warm Love Cool Dreams

The Salt Shed will host a new music festival over two days in September: Warm Love Cool Dreams, featuring headliners Jesus Lizard, Kelela, Sister Nancy, Sextile and more.

Tickets for the Sept. 28-29 festival, announced Tuesday, are hosted by Empty Bottle Presents and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Organizers have named 2024 as the inaugural year and said there are plans to expand the mixed-genre event into a regular Chicago event. It will be Jesus Lizard’s first show in Chicago in six years.

Warm Love Cast September 28:

  • The Jesus Lizard
  • Sextile
  • Provocateur
  • King Woman
  • Bendik Giske
  • Aitis Band
  • Stress positions

Cool Dreams lineup on September 28th:

  • Kelela
  • Floating point numbers
  • Sister Nancy
  • Shabaka
  • 454
  • John Glacier
  • SML

The title of the festival comes from a line in the first chapter of Nelson Algren’s Chicago-set book The Man with the Golden Arm, about a World War II veteran who becomes a drug-addicted card dealer: “The veteran’s flat, calm, expressionless face absently fixes on an oversized cockroach, which, with a half-dazed movement from under the radiator, extends its feelers invitingly toward him: Come down here, where all is warm love and cool dreams forever.”

“Warm Love Cool Dreams” takes place September 28 and 29 at the Salt Shed, 1357 N. Elston Ave.; tickets $49-$200 at www.emptybottle.com
