Chris Pine’s new film ‘Poolman’ confirms UK release date

The release date for Poolman, Chris Pine’s directorial debut, has been confirmed for Prime Video in the UK.

The mystery comedy is about a technician (Pine) who takes care of a swimming pool in LA and soon uncovers a plan for a water theft. The film is an homage to the neo-noir classic “Chinatown”.

The film is set to be released in US cinemas this week (May 10), but it has a different fate in the UK as it will stream directly on Prime Video. The release date has been set for 7 June.

In addition to Pine, the cast of “Poolman” includes Annette Bening, DeWanda Wise, Clancy Brown, Stephen Tobolowsky, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Danny DeVito; Pine co-wrote the screenplay with Ian Gotler.

Ahead of the film’s release next month, the first reviews have started pouring in, but they have been anything but positive: on Rotten Tomatoes, the film only received a measly 21% approval rating from the first 28 reviews.
