The Kid Laroi releases single and video “Girls”

The Kid Laroi has released his candidate for the title of “Song of the Summer” with the highly anticipated “Girls”.

The Australian artist embodies serenity personified on his new release, reminiscent of the R&B-meets-pop style of Justin Timberlake and Pharrell in the early 2000s.

“Girls just wanna dance / Girls just wanna have fun / I don’t know your plans / I just wanna get some”, Laroi appears on the chorus, essentially updating Cyndi Lauper for Generation Z.

In the accompanying music video, which you can watch below, Laroi frolics around a mansion and enjoys music with a gang of women.

Pop culture sensation Alix Earle stars in Laroi’s music video, and other well-known names such as Livvy Dunne, Valkyrae, Lily Chee and Tianna Robillard also make cameo appearances.

As part of his new single, Laroi has teamed up with Los Angeles-based grocer Erewhon to create a “Girls” smoothie. Proceeds from the smoothie will benefit the artist’s Laroi Foundation, which supports underprivileged youth in Australia and the United States.

“Girls” follows Laroi’s previous singles “Heaven” and 2024’s “Still Yours,” the latter of which was featured in his Prime Video documentary. Children Grow Up: A Story About a Child Named Laroi.

Directed by Michael D. Ratner, the film followed the singer and rapper on his world tour and while he worked on his debut album. The first time. But the documentary shows that Laroi struggled with great emotional anguish between the time he spent away from his home in Sydney, Australia, and the friends he lost through death and distance.

Children grow up followed Laroi as he began to understand some of the whole thing. “Money, fame, dreams coming true – it doesn’t solve problems. It doesn’t stop them from happening. If anything, they just become bigger in scale,” he said in the film. “But I tell myself every day, ‘Be grateful. Look at what you have. Be happy.'”

“Girls” by The Kid Laroi is out now.
