Adams signs with League One Volleyball’s Atlanta club – UTSA Athletics

ATLANTICA — For the first time in over 10 years, UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame member McKenzie Adams will play in the United States as the Atlanta-based League One Volleyball (LOVB) club officially announced that she will join the team after signing with the league back in March.

LOVB is a recently formed professional league with its inaugural season beginning in January 2025. The organization is comprised of six teams from Atlanta, Georgia; Austin, Texas; Houston, Texas; Madison, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska, and Salt Lake City, Utah. LOVB currently operates 47 youth volleyball clubs in 22 states and recently set out to develop volleyball into the next great American sports league. Additionally, fans will be able to see Adams compete on ESPN and ESPN+, as the league has signed a multi-year media rights deal with the company.

Adams was a founding member of the UTSA Hall of Fame and one of its top “runners.” She won two AVCA All-American Awards and two Conference Player of the Year awards between the 2011 and 2013 volleyball seasons. After a stellar freshman season, she transferred to UTSA from Virginia and quickly made an impact, earning Southland Newcomer of the Year honors in 2011. Her trophy case was expanded with 2012 WAC Player of the Year and 2013 Conference-USA Player of the Year honors, earning her first team all-conference honors in all three leagues. Adams was selected to the third team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2013, the first in program history, after earning honorable mention the year before.

She continues to hold school records in several categories, including kills (653), attacks (1,575) and solo blocks (32) in a single season. Adams, who plays two sports for the Roadrunners, also played basketball during the 2013-14 season, appearing in 16 games with 14 starts and posting 6.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 24 blocks and 14 steals.

Professionally, Adams has excelled over the past 10 seasons for various clubs, proving her talent on the world stage. From Indias de Mayagüez in Puerto Rico (2014-15), Ladies in Black Aachen in Germany (2016-18), SSC Palmberg Schwerin in Germany (2018-20), A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano in Italy (2020-21), Eczacıbaşı Dynavit in Turkey (2021-22), Igor Gorgonzola Novara in Italy (2022-23), Hisamitsu Springs in Japan (2023-24) and Cangrejeras de Santurce in Puerto Rico (2023-24), she has left her mark. Her international experience includes over 20 competition wins and she was named MVP of the German Supercup in the 2019-20 season with SSC Palmberg Schwerin.
