Motorsport legend Travis Pastrana returns to the racetracks in southwest Michigan

KALAMAZOO, MI – A legendary daredevil known for performing the world’s first double backflip on a motorcycle is returning to Southwest Michigan.

American motorsports icon Travis Pastrana and his Channel 199 crew embark on an exciting tour of two area speedway tracks this weekend – Hartford Speedway and Kalamazoo Speedway – featuring adrenaline-fueled, fast-paced racing and a demolition derby.

Hartford Speedway will host Pastrana and friends on Friday, June 28. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. and racing action is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Kalamazoo Speedway will host its annual “Red, White and Boom Night of Destruction” on Saturday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Travis Pastrana back to Hartford Motor Speedway,” said event promoter Drew Jach. “His presence last year electrified the crowd and we expect an even bigger turnout this year. It will be an unforgettable night of racing.”

Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets for Friday’s races in advance at www.nationalcompacts.com, as general admission tickets start at $25.

This year’s event at Hartford Speedway will see Pastrana and friends compete in the highly anticipated Hartford Van Prix and Channel 199 Enduro. The action-packed night will also feature the Midwest Dirt Compacts, Super Troopers and UMP Modifieds, providing plenty of thrills for racing enthusiasts.

The Hartford Speedway race track is leased by Great Lakes Racing Promotions to ensure a first-class experience for drivers and spectators.

Pastrana, 40, is a 16-time X Games gold medalist and four-time Rally America racing champion. He also drives part-time in the NASCAE Craftsman Truck Series. He is the creator of the TV series and “action collective” Nitro Circus, in which Pastrana and his crew perform plenty of action stunts.

Kalamazoo Speedway’s annual Red, White and Boom Night of Destruction features several “Wreck Something” themed races as well as new types of races.

The event concludes with a fireworks display that is considered one of the largest in the region.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 5.
