“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland has resigned as host of Love Island USA.

The star has hosted the US version of the reality show since the fourth season, but confirmed that she will not be taking part in the upcoming sixth season due to commitments to another project.

Hyland announced the news on her Instagram stories, writing, “So, I just got a text. I’m disappointed that the news had to come out this way, but it is indeed true that I will not be returning to the island this summer.”

“I have committed to an exciting project that will be announced soon and clashes directly with the filming dates of Love Island USA. Although I am sad that I cannot return, I hope to see lots of love this summer in the upcoming season on Peacock!”

The US version of the British show first aired in 2019 and was originally hosted by Arielle Vandenberg before Hyland took over.

The news comes after Love Island USA was renewed for two more seasons by streamer Peacock in November.

The fifth season of the series ended last August and Hannah Wright and Marco Donatelli took the crown ahead of runners-up Kassy Castillo and Leonardo Dionicio.

Last summer, many fans online voiced their support for Hyland after she clashed with contestant Mike Stark on air. The Islander accused Hyland of being “insanely disrespectful” after making sure another contestant was happy with a decision.

“Am I being disrespectful?” Hyland asked, keeping her composure. “Fine.”

After another contestant apologized to the moderator on Stark’s behalf, Hyland said, “Boys will be boys, right?”

Love Island USA streams on Peacock. Love Island will be broadcast on ITV2 and streamed on ITVX.
