“I was the biggest damn Taylor fan. Then a few years later she became my girlfriend,” she told Apple Music 1 Zane Lowe.

Camila and then added that she often still feels like she suffers from imposter syndrome.

“I mean, I feel like I had imposter syndrome for a really long time, and sometimes I do, but I think the more you get to know people and get to know them on a human level, the more you think, ‘Oh, they have the same shit.’ I also wanted to say, I think it’s also important to surround yourself with people who are on that level, like Taylor or drakeit really elevates you, even on a subconscious level, just watching them do things or talk about things. There’s something about their energy and their confidence and their wisdom that they get from doing it for so long that I think just elevates you. Also, I think when you become friends with people like that, you’re like, ‘Oh, they’re watching my shit, so I better pay the fuck attention.'”

Camila also talked about the TV show Girlwriting and how they take songwriting cues from Taylor.

“I’m a very emotional person, but I think I’ve also learned technically what I love, what I think makes great writing, whether it’s in a novel or… I was just talking to my mom about this show that I watch over and over again as my feel-good show, Girlon HBO, which I think is just a great script that is written with a ‘show, don’t tell’ attitude and is specific,” the singer said. “I think it took me a little bit as a writer to learn that if you’re a really emotional person, you can’t just say, ‘That devastated me,’ which Taylor is a master of it, and all great writers are masters of it. You don’t say, ‘I was jealous.’ You say, ‘I want to wear her hair on my head,’ or something like that. You know what I mean? You don’t say the emotion, you paint it.”

Camilanew album C,XOXO will be released THIS Friday (June 28th), featuring features from drake, Lil Nas X, Playboi Carti And City GirlJT And Yung Miami. You can find the complete track list here!
