Stunning co-op action RPG Wardens Rising will soon receive a free Steam demo

I love being surprised. Not in the form of an April Fool’s joke or when someone surprises me, but in the form of a pleasant over-fulfillment of my expectations. A game that does exactly that is Resurrection of the Guardians. It’s a mixture of several different ideas and genres all mixed together into a single game. On their own, none of them would particularly appeal to me – but when you put them all together, you get something completely fascinating.

Wardens Rising is a MOBA. Actually, it’s an action RPG. No, it’s a co-op top-down shooter like the original Helldivers. It’s all of that, with a few of its own ideas thrown in, all combined with the bold, comic book style of League of Legends or World of Warcraft.

Here’s how it works: You choose one of five Wardens, each with their own playstyle and unique abilities. Then you go into endless war and face a threat from another dimension that wants to destroy humanity. Alone or with friends, you build defenses between battles and use lasers and turrets to help you with the tide. Then the wave hits and huge armies of invaders threaten to overwhelm you and your friends as you desperately – but tactically – fight them off.

So on one hand you have the defense building and lane playstyle of a MOBA like League of Legends and on the other hand you’re playing an action RPG like Diablo 4 where you take the fight to the enemy personally. If you want to know more about how it all fits together and what the plans are for Wardens Rising, we spoke to the team behind it to get all the details.

What really appeals to Wardens Rising is the fact that it’s suitable for both co-op and single player. There are 24 campaign maps to play either alone or with friends, as well as an endless mode and 12 mission modes that offer new challenges each time. This makes it feel like a game I can happily play alone, and if friends are around they can jump in without having to start over or begin a new session.

If all this sounds interesting to you, you’ll be happy to hear that you’ll soon be able to play some of it for free. Wardens Rising will have a demo you can play that will be released on Steam on Monday, July 29th. You can download it from the Steam page and add the game to your wishlist there too.
