Authorities search for suspect in Hillsdale County deputy shooting

HILLSDALE COUNTY, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – Authorities are searching for a suspect after a Hillsdale County sheriff’s deputy was shot Thursday afternoon.

According to Michigan State Police, the suspect, Eric Michael Fiddler, is still at large.

Officers describe Fiddler as a 5’10” white male, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing all dark clothing.

According to MSP, the shooting occurred Thursday in the area of ​​Beecher Road and Lamb Road in Hillsdale County. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital. Police are asking the public to avoid the area as it is an active crime scene.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded, including K9 flying foxes and emergency support teams.

Fiddler is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you see Fiddler, you should call 911.
