Every chef and restaurant owner who makes a cameo appearance in Season 3 of The Bear

The third season of the successful Hulu show The bear arrived in full on Wednesday night, bringing with it a veritable plethora of guest appearances from chefs and restaurants – perhaps too many. In the season’s 10 episodes, a whole host of luminaries from the world of gastronomy appear in both the past and present of chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), serving as both his culinary role models and his professional colleagues.

Many of these appearances occur in the series finale, when a group of prominent chefs and food service professionals gather at Chicago restaurant Ever for a “funeral” of sorts. (Scroll to the end to see the full list of these names, which make up half of the cameo appearances.) Others pop up right at the beginning, when we take a look at Carmy’s professional career, including training to be a chef at some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants.

In case you couldn’t keep up with the flood of famous food people, we’ve compiled all the real chefs who appeared in Season 3 of The bear.

The chef and the restaurant owner have cameo appearances in season 3

Daniel Boulud
When Carmy heads to New York City long before the Bear opens, one of his first jobs is directing at Daniel Boulud’s restaurant, Daniel. In Season 3, we see Boulud in several flashbacks giving Carmy instructions during a busy dinner in the kitchen.

Thomas Keller
Keller also makes several appearances in Season 3, as does his Napa restaurant, the French Laundry. We see the restaurant in several scenes—Carmy sketching ideas for dishes in the restaurant’s lush gardens, tending to dinner service in the kitchen—and Keller gently teaches the chef how to properly truss a chicken in a flashback in Episode 10.

René Redzepi
Previous seasons have referenced Carmy’s time in Copenhagen, and now we have definitive proof that he did indeed work at Noma. The soon-to-close restaurant appeared in episode 1 of the new season, in a montage where Carmy forages for food, cooks, and makes preps alongside the Noma staff. (And of course, the restaurant posted behind-the-scenes footage of those scenes on Instagram.)

Will Guidara
Hospitality expert and former co-owner of Eleven Madison Park, Will Guidara, is co-producer of The bearand his influence permeates the series. In season 2, we see Cousin Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) reading Guidara’s book Inappropriate hospitalityand later texted him asking for advice.

Paul James
The New York-born chef, who runs Uncle Paulie’s Deli in Los Angeles, appears in Episode 6 as a temp in Bear’s Italian beef window.

Adam Shapiro
Fictional chef Andrea Terry (Olivia Coleman) and her right-hand man Adam Shapiro definitely have an interest in luring Sydney away from the bear. Although the Adam Shapiro in the series isn’t actually a chef at Ever, actor Adam Shapiro (yes, his character has his real name) has his own bakery, the Snappy Pretzel Company, which once supplied Philly-style soft pretzels to the Academy Awards.

Each funeral meal has a cameo appearance in episode 10 “Forever”

Will Guidara
The restaurant owner appears in the season finale and shares his restaurant wisdom over dinner with Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Marcus (Lionel Boyce).

Christina Tosi
Of course, the former pastry chef of Momofuku, the mastermind behind Milk Bar and partner of Will Guidara is also here.

Grant Achatz
The chef of groundbreaking Chicago restaurant Alinea brings a bit of levity to the finale when he is approached by “hot pastry chef” Luca (Will Poulter), who can’t stop asking him questions about some of his most famous dishes.

Wylie DuFresne
The molecular gastronomy titan behind WD50 and other restaurants.

Anna Posey
The award-winning Chicago pastry chef at Elske and James Beard finalist in 2024.

Kevin Boehm
A successful Chicago restaurateur at the helm of the Boka Restaurant Group.

Genius Kwon
He is a James Beard Award winner as co-owner and pastry chef of Kasama, the only Michelin-starred Filipino restaurant in the world.

Rosio Sanchez
A Chicago-born chef, formerly of Noma, who now runs two restaurants, Sanchez and Hija de Sanchez, in Copenhagen.

Malcolm Livingston II
The former pastry chef of Noma.
