“When Digz the Dog Met Zurl the Squirrel” by Chris Pine

Actor and director Chris Pine makes his children’s debut with the picture book When the dog Digz met the squirrel Zurl, is published by Flamingo Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. The deal for the world English rights was brokered by Margaret Anastas, Vice President and Publisher of Flamingo Books, and the Creative Artists Agency. Anastas also served as editor on the project.

With illustrations by Chuck Groenink, When the dog Digz met the squirrel Zurl follows the titular animal stars as they battle for territory in Ms. Pincher’s garden. Both Digz and Zurl believe they dominate the space, but the creatures soon learn that they don’t have to be enemies and begin a blossoming friendship.

“I am thrilled and honored to be able to bring (Chris’) signature wit and big heart to readers around the world, with the message that we can make incredible friends and gain incredible experiences when we keep our minds open,” Anastas said in a statement.

“My desire was to create something beautiful that reminded me of the classics I grew up with; to tell a simple story, made up of wonderful words and cute images, that would hopefully appeal to the child in all of us,” Pine said in a press release.

The book is scheduled to hit shelves on October 8th.
