5 Dolphins players fans can’t wait to see in action once training camp begins

Training camp begins in about a month, and that means Miami Dolphins fans have another reason to rejoice. Right now, the talk around the water cooler is about Tua Tagovailoa and his contract.

When camp begins, however, the focus will likely be on Tagovailoa and whether he has a new contract and, if not, whether he practices or decides to sit out. Camp is about more than just Tua! With that in mind, here are five guys Miami fans can’t wait to see in action:

Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t the player he once was. While he’s far from finished, OBJ won’t lead the league in pass catches or yards, but he doesn’t have to in Miami. Beckham will be another option at quarterback for the Dolphins, and when he makes his first one-handed catch of training camp, fans in the stands will go wild.

The Dolphins believe this veteran can bring the offensive impact they hoped Cedrick Wilson Jr. would. Miami was looking for a good third receiver and OBJ should be a perfect fit for that role. Fans will soon find out if that is true.

Chop Robinson will elicit a lot of oohs and ahs when he steps onto the practice field in July. The biggest things to look for are his first step after the snap and how quickly he can get around the tackle. Robinson will be closely scrutinized as fans hope he can help minimize the early loss of Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.

Robinson has a lot of potential for development and the coaches will need to work with him quickly to get him ready for the start of the season. The training sessions should provide an insight into what awaits Robinson and his exciting future.

The Miami Dolphins’ sixth-round draft pick will turn heads. He did so during OTAs and minicamp, but come training camp, Washington will be able to show the coaching staff that he deserves more than just a roster spot.

Fans will see a lot of both him and seventh-round pick Tahj Washington, and it will be exciting to watch both players compete for playing time in camp.

Mike Gesicki was a fantastic pass catcher and slot receiver/tight end until Mike McDaniel became head coach. Jonnu Smith is another good pass catcher and tight end who can also block and run better routes and is much better at what he does with the ball after he gets it. Smith will be another player that gets fans cheering during training camp and it will be interesting to see how McDaniel incorporates him into the offense.

Not everyone has to be on offense. The Dolphins’ new inside linebacker is a hard-hitting defender who closes gaps and makes plays. When contact is made, you should hear a lot of pad-to-pad thumps.

Brooks will be the player fans should keep an eye on as he sets the tone on defense and sets the expectations for the rest of the linebackers. He is a very physical presence and that should make Anthony Weaver happy.
