Love, Packers consider new deal before training camp

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are still working out the details of his new contract.

Both parties have publicly stated that they would like to reach an agreement before the training camp.

These conversations come after Love’s third year as a professional and his first year as starting quarterback for the Pack.

It also follows Packers GM Brian Gutenkunst’s statement that he wants to avoid some of the inconveniences that come with contract negotiations with Green Bay Packers’ last quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

Evan Smith, former Green Bay Packer and co-host of Seehafer News’ On the Line podcast, shared his opinion on contract negotiations in the NFL,

“It’s like poker. Everyone tries to bluff and bluff and try to get as much money as they can until at the end of the day the clock is ticking and here’s our number.”

These are exactly the games Love and the Packers would like to avoid.

Smith and “On the Line” co-host Ryan Brahm agreed that an agreement could be reached before camp.

The first season of Love ultimately proved to be a huge success.

He and the Packers struggled at the beginning, starting with a 2-4 record. However, he turned things around in the end and led the Packers into the playoffs.

Love posted an impressive 4,000+ passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns, second most in the NFL.

With numbers like that, it’s no surprise why the Packers want to lock down Love and his arm for the foreseeable future.
