Aer Lingus has already cancelled 270 flights due to strikes and industrial action, and an eight-hour walkout is planned for Saturday.
The Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association has announced a strike from 5am to 1pm on 29 June, in addition to its indefinite duty as per rule.
The union is demanding a 24 percent pay rise, which it says the airline can afford after making a profit of €255 million (£216 million) last year.
99 percent of MPs voted for the measure.
Aer Lingus said: “Industrial action at this time of year would cause significant disruption and have a devastating impact on customers and their families over the upcoming summer holiday period.”
The travel plans of tens of thousands of passengers were affected and the airline offered refunds or alternative flights to those whose trips were cancelled.
This is what it can mean for you and this is what you can do.
What are the Aer Lingus strike dates?
In addition, the airline has been implementing a “strict work deployment” since this week for an indefinite period.
What impact will it have on flights?
Since the introduction of industrial action, Aer Lingus has been forced to ground at least 26 flights a day.
Union members did not work overtime, but only worked according to published schedules, did not log on to the intranet outside of working hours, and did not answer telephone calls.
This can cause significant flight disruptions if bad weather strikes, problems arise, or the crew or passengers become ill.
What to do if your flight is affected?
The airline has announced that all those affected will be informed by email or SMS.
If you decide not to travel, you can request a full refund.
The airline will likely pressure consumers to accept a voucher for future travel.
There is a small chance that you will be able to find the same flight later at a cheaper price and then get the difference refunded.
If you choose to travel onwards, Aer Lingus is responsible for getting passengers to their destination as quickly as possible – even if this means purchasing a ticket with another airline.
If there are overnight delays, the company must provide hotel and food accommodation as well as any other compensation.
