Princess Anne in hospital with concussion after being ‘kicked by a horse’

Prince Harry spoke about how he suppressed his grief after the death of his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12 years old.

In a new video, the Duke of Sussex talks to Nikki Scott, founder of the armed forces charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, about coping with loss.

After joining the 50 children supported by the charity in May, the Duke spoke about dealing with grief.

He told Ms Scott: “But that’s what I told (the children). If you suppress it for too long, you can’t suppress it forever. It’s not sustainable and it will eat away at you inside.”

Yesterday, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Princess Anne was still in hospital this afternoon, and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, admitted that she was “slowly recovering”.

The 73-year-old royal was admitted on Sunday evening after suffering a concussion and minor injuries when she was kicked by a horse at her Gatcombe Park estate.

Harry talks about his grief

The Duke of Sussex has advised a group of grieving children of soldiers that they cannot “suppress” their grief forever as it will ultimately “eat them up”.

Harry met the youngsters during his brief visit to the UK in May and talks about coping with the loss in a new video with Nikki Scott, founder of the armed forces charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports the children.

In the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, Harry revealed in a newspaper interview that he had “not thought about his mother’s death” for almost 20 years and finally sought help after two years of “total chaos”.

After taking part in a fun-filled activity event hosted by Scotty’s with 50 children in May, the Duke told the charity’s boss about his pep talk on dealing with grief. He told Ms Scott: “But I’ve told (the children) this. If you suppress it for too long, you can’t suppress it forever. It’s not sustainable and it will eat away at you inside.”

When she stressed the importance of a grieving child celebrating the life of their parents, Harry replied that this was difficult for a teenager whose attitude was, “I don’t want to talk about it because it makes me sad.”

He added: “But when I realise that it actually gets easier when I talk about it and celebrate her life. As opposed to ‘I’m not going to talk about it and this is the best way to deal with it’ – which in reality is not the case.”

Royal family ‘in a bind’ due to ongoing health problems

Following Princess Anne’s hospitalization and the numerous health problems the royal family is battling, an expert said they are “at the end of their rope.”

Author Christopher Andersen told the Daily Beast: “As senior royals age, there are bound to be more health challenges. But it seems strange that we are witnessing one medical problem after another being heaped on the new ruler in rapid succession.

“There is a feeling that the royal family is at its end. I think we have all been a little spoiled by the late Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, all three of whom were spared serious illness until well into their nineties.”

Meghan Markle faces an “impossible situation”

The Duchess of Sussex is in an “impossible situation” with her estranged father, according to a royal expert.

Previously, 79-year-old Thomas Markle had asked Meghan to finally meet his two grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, before her 80th birthday.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield said on Heirs and spare parts: “Can Meghan pick up the phone and say, ‘Dad, I want to talk to you, but you can’t tell Samantha (her half-sister), you can’t tell Thomas Jr.?’

“Her brother has a regular YouTube channel where he talks about his sister, pretending to be his sister. It’s almost like she’s in an impossible situation because how could she get access to her father without compromising some of his privacy?”
