Jolianne releases new single “I’ll Be Somebody You Want”

Jolianne is back with new music.

On June 27, the rising singer-songwriter released her latest song titled “I’ll Be Somebody You Want.” The soulful R&B track tackles the theme of “finding a true romantic connection with someone who isn’t afraid to embrace all facets of who you are as a person, regardless of the complexities and imperfections.” It follows her appearance on a new version of “Loyal” – a song by Norwegian-Filipino artist HILLARI – and her single “I Can’t Sleep,” both of which will be released in 2023.

“I wrote (‘I’ll Be Somebody You Want’) about someone who only ever loved me at my best. But you can’t choose which parts of a person you love. You take the good with the bad. I want to be loved as unconditionally as I love,” she reveals in a press release.

The single – written by Jolianne herself – was produced by RJ Pineda, keyboardist for Apartel and Brat Pack. “This track was produced by RJ Pineda, a legend on the keys,” explained Jolianne, describing the musician as “versatile, tasteful and well-versed in music theory.” “There are so many layers to discover in the production of this song. Even now, after listening to the track over and over, I still discover hidden gems that I didn’t know about before,” she adds.

Described as Jolianne’s “most heavily produced song in (her) catalog to date” and a “return to form,” the single features a back-to-basics approach similar to that of her beginnings, now with “musicality and taste” that is “even more refined and elevated.” She also becomes more vulnerable as a writer, feeling “more comfortable writing about (her) own experiences rather than second-hand experiences.”
