Critics mock Marjorie Taylor Greene for wild election “Self-Own”: “NO self-confidence”

Critics are criticizing Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia for her apparent double standards after she called for a drastic pay cut for a senior U.S. development official on Wednesday.

“An individual who abuses their position in government to interfere in democratic elections should not be allowed anywhere near public office,” said the conspiracy theorist, one of 147 Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 election and who supports former President Donald Trump’s false “rigged” claims about it.

Greene introduced an amendment in the House of Representatives to reduce the salary of Samantha Power, director of the U.S. Agency for International Development, to $1 under the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) guidelines.

The far-right Republican also linked Power to “influential left-wing foundations” – in a move that adds to other GOP-led efforts to combat DEI programs and initiatives – to construct the theory that the Biden administration, officials and other groups are sticking around to “implement extreme policy initiatives.”

“Instead of fulfilling her role as administrator, Samantha Power is focused on imposing a left-wing agenda on the entire U.S. government and its proxies around the world,” Greene later claimed.

Social media users on X mocked Greene for her election remarks, stating that her “Hypocrisy knows no bounds.”
