Audio of Trump’s comment about Taylor Swift’s appearance scares everyone

Donald Trump repeatedly raved about Taylor Swift in newly released audio files – but it wasn’t her skills as a singer, songwriter and live performer that so enchanted the former president.

It’s her looks.

In an audio recording by author Ramin Setoodeh that aired on CNN on Wednesday, Trump said he had heard Swift was talented but was mostly focused on how “beautiful” she was.

He used this word five times in about 20 seconds:

A transcript released about two weeks ago also shows Trump raving about Swift’s beauty while admitting that her music is new territory for him as he doesn’t know her particularly well.

He also questioned whether Swift was liberal or just pretending to be.

Swift hasn’t said much about the 2024 presidential election other than encouraging her fans to vote in the primaries, but in 2020 she accused Trump of “fanning the fires of white supremacy and racism.”

She endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020, and Biden’s team reportedly hopes she will do so again.

Trump’s critics at X found his recent comments about her appearance more than a little creepy:

No mention of Taylor Swift’s intelligence, talent, or success. Just typical misogynistic comments about her looks.
