Canyon 4-H Club helps youth become successful adults

CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Canyon 4-H Club wants to make a difference in the community by preparing youth for success.

The goal of 4-H is to teach children as young as eight years old through various projects and activities skills that can help them along the way in life. Officials said the children will build on the things they have learned throughout their experience.

4-H doesn’t just focus on animals, its program is divided into five main categories with corresponding projects, including Agriculture and Livestock, Family and Community Health, Leadership and Citizenship, Natural Resources, and STEM.

“4-H, through some of their programs and contact with some of them, introduced me to the Agricultural Systems Management major, which piqued my interest because it is a very versatile major and I can really do anything I want with it and be successful in my career,” said Justin Hill, president of the 4-H Texas District Council.

Officials said the program is committed to developing the next generation of working adults who will give back to their communities.
