3-star defensive lineman from Ohio commits to Michigan State

That’s two new additions on the same day for Michigan State’s next recruiting class.

Cal Thrush, a three-star 2025 defensive lineman from Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio, announced his commitment to the Spartans on Wednesday night. His verbal commitment came just a few hours after Michigan State signed three-star offensive tackle Justin Bell.

At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Thrush is the No. 154 defensive lineman and No. 1,535 overall player in the class of 2025 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has more than a dozen offers, including from Cincinnati, Army, Air Force and Harvard.

Thrush received an offer from Michigan State in May and took an official visit to campus this month.

The Spartans now have 13 players signed for their 2025 recruiting class, and they are all three-star prospects. Besides the two commitments announced Wednesday, the others in the group are quarterback Leo Hannan, linebackers Charles White and Di’Mari Malone, running back Jace Clarizio, tight ends Jayden Savoury and Emmett Bork, receivers Braylon Collier and Charles Taplin, cornerbacks George Mullins and Aydan West, and offensive lineman Drew Nichols.
