A synopsis for season three of Interview with the vampire shows that we can expect The Vampire Lestat completely. It shares:

In season three, vampire Lestat resents the superficial portrayal in the pulp bestseller Interview with the Vampire and sets his story straight in a way only vampire Lestat can – by forming a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those who must be preserved. Join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage through space, time, and trauma. No auto-tuning. No trigger warnings. Everything feels amplified.

More about The Vampire Lestat

Anne Rice’s second vampire novel The Vampire Lestat was published in 1985, nine years after Interview with the vampire. interview was initially a cult hit that took years to become a classic. But the sequel was an instant bestseller and really spawned a franchise. Rice took the villain of the original novel, made him an anti-hero, and expanded the vampire mythology considerably. In book two, we travel back through Lestat’s eyes to the time of Renaissance Italy, the Roman Empire, and ancient Egypt. The scope is much larger, so it will be interesting to see how Rolin Jones tackles it in a series.

One potential problem for fans is that Louis, played by Jacob Anderson, has very little presence in book two. The majority of the novel’s events take place before Lestat ever meets Louis in New Orleans. A solution to this problem could be to have Louis interview Lestat about his past, rather than Lestat simply writing his memoirs as he did in Rice’s novel. Hence the name Interview with the vampire still makes sense, and Jacob Anderson could stay in the series. Anderson’s Louis going from interviewee to interviewer would certainly be an interesting twist.
