Taylor Swift’s donation to UK Food Bank provides over 10,000 meals: “Beyond our wildest dreams”

Taylor Swift has given a UK food bank considerable “leeway” following its “discreet” and sizeable donation.

In an interview with The GuardianRachel Biggs, the executive director of Cardiff Foodbank, said that the Department for Tortured Poets The 34-year-old singer made the largest single donation to the organization. The amount of money was not disclosed, but Biggs revealed that thanks to the donation, the food bank can provide “the weight that will give 1,200 people three meals a day for three days – so 10,800 meals.”

“The breathing room Taylor’s donation has given us will allow us to lift our heads and shift our focus from the food bank to creating sustainable businesses that support people who currently need our help. We are supporting them to address the root causes of poverty and offering them financial support to put them on the path to no longer needing our help,” Biggs told the outlet.

Then there is the donation Swift made to St. Andrew’s Community Network in Liverpool. The guard reports that Swift’s surprise donation will fund food donations for the next 12 months. Rich Jones, the executive director of the network, which consists of 11 food banks and eight community pantries, told the publication, “Taylor Swift has essentially paid our grocery bill for 12 months – and that frees us up to focus on fundraising in the future.”

The food banks took to Instagram to show their gratitude while highlighting the work they can continue to do with Swift’s support. The posts were accompanied by photos of two friendship bracelets that read “Thank You Taylor Love Cardiff FoodBanks” and “End Hunger.”

Swift’s Eras Tour took her to Lyon, France, Edinburgh, Scotland, Liverpool, UK, Cardiff, Wales and most recently to London, England, to Wembley Stadium, which attracted a crowd of celebrities (including the Royal!) and even her boyfriend, Travis Kelcewho dressed in a tuxedo and top hat for a surprising appearance on stage. Swift’s Eras Tour heads to Dublin, Ireland this weekend.

Swift is of course nothing new to making large donations to food banks wherever her Eras Tour takes her, but this has been her practice for years, and not just when she is on tour. In 2016, she $50,000 donated to the Baton Rogue Food Bank amid the devastating floods in Louisiana.

In the following year donated to the Houston Food Bank to support reconstruction efforts after Hurricane Harvey devastated the city. midnight The singer made the donation in honor of her mother, Andrea Swift, who attended the University of Houston.

And speaking of food shortages, Swift’s boyfriend is also doing his part. Earlier this year, the Kansas City Chiefs star partnered with breakfast company Kodiak to Donate 25,000 hot meals for the children of Kansas City.
