OMAHA, Nebraska – The Florida baseball team faces another win or home game against Kentucky in the College World Series at Charles Schwab Field on Wednesday.

The Florida Gators (35-29) have responded well when their backs were against the wall, winning their last eight NCAA Tournament elimination games since 2023 by a score of 7-1. That included Monday, when UF advanced in the losers’ bracket by narrowly defeating North Carolina State 5-4 on the strength of an early three-run homer from Jac Caglianone and three scoreless innings from the bullpen by Brandon Neely, who earned his fifth save of the season.

“Obviously, everyone knows that the elimination rounds are about emotions and keeping the energy up, and that’s what we did,” Florida baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan said.

Kentucky (46-15) fell to the losers bracket with a 5-1 loss to Texas A&M on Wednesday night. The Wildcats won 2 of 3 against UF in the regular season, with both victories against Florida coming in overtime.

Kentucky has not yet named a starter but will likely use left-hander Dominic Niman (8-4, 6.24), who has not yet started for the Wildcats in Omaha. Florida will counter with left-hander Pierce Coppola (0-4, 9.16 ERA).
