CHARLESTON, SC — The Shumaker Law Firm is proud to announce the expansion of its Charleston office and is celebrating this important milestone with a special event featuring Coach Chris Mack, the new head coach of the College of Charleston men’s basketball program, as the keynote speaker.

The event highlighted the parallels between the dynamic world of business and the world of sport and emphasized the importance of teamwork, strategy and competitive spirit.

“The best teams aren’t just about talent; they put relentless hard work and dedication into perfecting their strategies and tactics,” said Coach Mack. “I always tell my players, ‘Success isn’t just about what you do on the field – it’s about how you prepare, how you fight through adversity and how you apply those lessons to every aspect of your life. Those are the skills that will set you apart long after the final whistle blows.'”

The expansion of the Charleston office includes an additional 8,086 square feet of space for a growing team of attorneys. The expanded office space is designed to accommodate future growth as Charleston continues to thrive and demand for legal services increases, particularly in the areas of healthcare, real estate and development, litigation and disputes, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, wealth strategies and more.

“Our Charleston office is thriving and growing thanks to our attorneys’ drive for performance and results, their competitive spirit and their ability to work together as a team,” said GP Diminich, Shumaker’s Charleston managing partner. “This expansion is a testament to our commitment to winning more business and providing exceptional service to our clients.”

Coach Chris Mack brings a wealth of leadership and strategy experience from the basketball court to the podium. One of only 19 coaches in college basketball history to lead their team to a No. 1 ranking within their first two years at their school, he has agreed to a five-year contract to be the new head coach of the College of Charleston men’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season.

Shumaker’s national sports and entertainment practice represents a diverse group of coaches and athletic directors at NCAA member institutions, professional franchise coaches, and other sports personalities and entertainers. The group’s attorneys work with clients and their agents, accountants, and financial and other key advisors to create comprehensive career and financial plans.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Mack to Charleston and our community. We are grateful to have him celebrate our expansion with us and share his insights on what it takes to get to the top and become number one in both sports and business,” added Diminich.
