LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The City of Leland is creating a comprehensive safety action plan called Safe Streets and Trails for All with the goal of creating a future where everyone in the community can safely walk, bike or drive.

The SS4A plan aims to determine current traffic and road conditions, analyze historical trends, and prioritize projects that will increase the safety of Leland’s transportation network.
The SS4A Plan recommends a comprehensive set of projects, strategies, policies, guidelines and standards and serves as a guide to improving the safety of all road users.

The project team analyzes crash locations and severity, identifies contributing factors, and categorizes crash types involving motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. This data, along with community feedback, is critical to directing project recommendations in the SS4A plan.

Citizens are invited to share their views on road safety and identify areas they consider unsafe for travellers.

There are several ways to participate:

• Public Input Map: Share your comments on the interactive public input map.
• Online survey: Complete the online survey.
• Open House: Join us for an open house on July 15 at City Hall, 102 Town Hall Drive. Stop by anytime between 3 and 7 p.m. to give your input and learn more about the SS4A plan.

Paper surveys are available at City Hall, Leland Library, Brunswick Center at Leland and Leland Cultural Arts Center. The public input card and surveys will be available through the end of July.
