Meghan McCain throws heavy shade at Taylor Swift

Meghan McCain didn’t hesitate when she shared her unfiltered opinion about the pop superstar in a new podcast episode about Taylor Swift.

The previous view The presenter, 39, started the discussion on her podcast “Citizen McCain With Meghan McCain” earlier this week, asking her co-hosts for their thoughts on Swift’s numerous re-releases of The “Tortured Poets” section – controversial moves by Swift, which some have denounced as a plan to prevent other artists’ new albums from reaching number one on the charts.

She noted that she “did not not a fan” – but not “wakes up in the morning and thinks, ‘My God, Taylor Swift’s music is the best thing ever’” – McCain presented the argument from the perspective of fans who believe that Swift’s latest TTPD Publication was “a deliberate act to sabotage Charli XCX” Bratz debut, especially considering Swift made a similar move in May after Billie Eilish’s new album threatened to The “Tortured Poets” section‘s No. 1 series in the United States.”

“I just don’t know how stylish it is,” McCain said, apparently referring to Swift’s own hit “Karma” to underscore her next point.

“And I also think karmically you’re messing up some things,” she continued. “But I think it would be interesting to focus more on music and art rather than… putting points on a scoreboard.”

Although McCain also highlighted Swift’s generosity toward other artists – particularly the 14-time Grammy winner’s $250,000 donation toward Kesha’s legal fees in her legal battle with Dr. Luke – she also took a stinging swipe at Swift, claiming that the singer is currently at the peak of her career that she “has no other way to go but down at this point.”

“She is TIME Magazine‘s Person of the Year. This tour is so big, all of these things. And I don’t think it’s so big, frankly, that there’s not probably going to be some backlash, like there (would happen to other people),” McCain claimed. “But I think when she’s done with the tour, it would be helpful for her and for us as commentators if she would give us a little break from her constant media hype.”

It’s a news cycle McCain compared to the movie And every day the groundhog greets youwith stories about “Trump, Biden, Taylor Swift, Trump, Biden” on a loop, McCain continued. “Tell us what are the only issues that Americans are allowed to talk about that are in the news all day. And I think she would benefit from some beats after she’s done with her long tours.”
