Duane Allen, singer of the Oak Ridge Boys, says the last six months after the death of his wife have been hard

It has been a difficult year for the singer of the Oak Ridge Boys, Duane Allen. At Easter, the singer lost his wife Nora Lee Allen, who died of an illness. In the days that followed, the singer struggled with his grief.

In a social media post, Allen admitted that the last few months have been tough. Not only the death of his wife, but also various changes in his life have been hard for him. Nevertheless, the Oak Ridge Boys singer appreciates all the support and love his fans have shown him.

He wrote: “Hi everyone…The last six months have been a whirlwind through my life…I think everyone goes through times like this but for me this has been the hardest yet…From Joe Bonsall retiring from the road business to my wonderful wife being with Jesus on Easter morning, these six months have pulled me in all directions…I just found a ton of condolences and birthday wishes I didn’t know I had…One ‘very’ of them…I’m so sorry I didn’t respond but I am now…Thank you all…I’m a year older and trying to keep busy…Thank you all for checking in on me.”

Singer of the Oak Ridge Boys looks back on his grief

It’s the first time in recent months that Allen has opened up. Immediately after his wife’s death, Allen struggled to cope with his grief. He said he felt overwhelmed by all the memories of her.

He wrote, “I am so touched and honored that you are here. I am overwhelmed by all of your love, support and prayers. Since my Norah Lee moved into her new home. My big old home is filled with memories of everything she put there. Our home was her castle. She has things she has collected over 6 decades and even longer as she collected things from her parents and grandparents and so have I.”

The singer expressed his wish to preserve as many memories of his wife as possible.

He said: “It is so hard to go through all the memories that mean so much to me and her, but now I am alone to enjoy them. I have my precious family and we are starting to organize every piece and thoroughly clean every inch of our big house. Every photo, jewelry, award, photo, memory and keepsake will be handled with kid gloves.”
