Apple Watch Series X design and other details like a larger 2-inch display discovered in new CAD render gallery

The design and other specs of the upcoming Apple Watch Series X have been revealed thanks to a new CAD render gallery that shows off most of the smartwatch’s details. The most noticeable change of all is that the display size has grown to 2 inches, making it larger than the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Series 9. We’ve gleaned more details from the CAD renders, so read on to find out more.

Based on the new CAD renderings, the design of the Apple Watch Series X remains largely unchanged, with the Digital Crown and side button in the same position

Following our first look at some crisp renders of the Apple Watch Series X based on various rumors that suggested a form factor with narrower bezels, 91mobiles has now given us a closer look at the CAD images. The design is expected to remain unchanged, with the Digital Crown and side button in the same place as previous models, with the most notable upgrade being the display. Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had stated that the Apple Watch Series X will come in two sizes, with both being larger than their direct predecessors, measuring 45mm and 49mm respectively, along with a body that is up to 15 percent thinner.

On this occasion, we learn that the display measures 2 inches, which may have been achieved by the Apple Watch Series X having thinner bezels than previous generation wearables. It is also rumored that the upcoming smartwatch will feature a new band connection system that will see the accessory attached by magnets. We discussed this in a separate report and found that the older models use a small part of the watch frame to house the band system.

Assuming the magnetic tape connection is first used on the Apple Watch Series X, the company can save valuable internal space and potentially accommodate a larger battery and other components. Unfortunately, according to the CAD renderings, this new design may not be adopted this year, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. After all, Apple introduced a major design overhaul with the iPhone X to mark the category’s tenth anniversary, so we have every reason to believe the company will make some changes to the look and feel.
