Justin Timberlake has finally fallen victim to the curse of the Mickey Mouse Club

Pop idol and former Mickey Mouse Club cast member Justin Timberlake was arrested for drunk driving early Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, New York, after authorities said he ran a stop sign and “failed to maintain his lane.”

The arresting officer believed Timberlake was “operating his vehicle while intoxicated,” and the superstar was detained by police at Sag Harbor Village Court on Tuesday morning for arraignment.

Overall, former members of the Mickey Mouse Club seem to have been more successful at avoiding legal trouble than other child stars, including those who have starred in Disney productions such as Lindsay Lohan and Adam Rich. But Timberlake, 43, isn’t the only former Mouseketeer in handcuffs for a minor traffic and/or alcohol violation (and a federal securities fraud conviction).

The “Dirrty” singer and former Mouseketeer (1993-94) was arrested for public intoxication – but never charged – after police stopped her boyfriend on suspicion of drunken driving while she was a passenger in a car driven through West Hollywood by her now-fiancé Matthew Rutler. As it turns out, he was actually under the legal limit and was not charged.

In September 2023, global star and former Mouseketeer Britney Spears (1993-1994) was stopped and fined for two violations: driving without a license and no proof of insurance. Spears, 41, had both a license and insurance but was not present at the time and was fined $1,140. Her lawyer said the charge was “the equivalent of a traffic ticket.” Spears was visited by police later that month for a wellness check for posting an Instagram video showing her dancing with knives.

Gosling pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and speeding and was sentenced to two years’ probation and ordered to pay $849 in fines and court costs, the newspaper reported.

Gillespie, a member of the original Mickey Mouse Club from 1955 to 1959 and later a nurse, was charged with petty theft in 1997 for stealing four women’s shirts from a Southern California Macy’s. She was sentenced to three days in jail. The following year, Gillespie was charged with securities fraud along with her then-fiancé Jerry Fraschilla and served three months of a two-year sentence. In 2005, Gillespie was arrested for mail fraud for allegedly stealing $300,000 from a class action lawsuit that was not hers. The charges were later reportedly dropped.
