Singer Tak Jae Hoon is once again criticized for a controversial comment he made on his Youtube show No turning back, Tak Jae Hoon.
In the latest episode of the show, the iconic second generation girl group KARA appeared as special guests. Although KARA stopped promoting as a group, they reunited in 2022 to celebrate their 15th anniversary.th anniversary and have been advertising together on several platforms ever since.
During his conversation with KARA about their reunion, Tak Jae Hoon unexpectedly called her “Subscribe to.“ The comment was addressed to the KARA member Nicolesaid, “What do you do when all the ahjummas gather?”
The Korean word Subscribe to usually refers to a married or middle-aged woman, but recently it has also acquired derogatory meanings. In online communities, it is often used as an insult to female netizens, and Koreans have reportedly become more reticent to use the term in public or official situations.
Tak Jae Hoon’s comment about Nicole naturally left a bad taste in netizens’ mouths. In a viral community post about this section, many left comments criticizing his choice of words and his overall treatment of KARA, which they found problematic. Some also pointed out that Nicole is only a 91-line writer, almost 30 years younger than Tak, and called her a Subscribe to was a challenge for him.
