Legends and celebrities attend the opening game of the Subway Series between the Yankees and the Mets

The first game of the Yankees-Mets Subway Series this season attracted numerous celebrities from a wide variety of professions at Citi Field on Tuesday night.

Former Mets Matt Harvey and Mike Piazza were in attendance, as were Gary Sheffield, Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawbery, who played for both New York teams.

Celebrities Kenny Smith, Guy Fieri, Mike Francesa and Bill O’Reilly also watched the game from Queens.

The 2024 NBA Draft was also represented at the game, as guard Reed Sheppard from Kentucky, who is considered by many to be a top-five pick, threw the first pitch.

The stars and celebrities watched a Subway Series battle that the Mets won 9-7 and that offered a little bit of everything.

The Amazin’s hit four home runs against Yankees star Gerrit Cole, who allowed six runs in just four innings, to take a big lead.

But Mets fans were left reeling after Aaron Judge hit a grand slam in the eighth inning to bring the Yankees to 9-7, but the Amazin’s held on and won the first of the two games at Citi Field with that score.

Judge, who had five RBIs in the loss, now leads the MLB in home runs (29) and RBIs (75), but that wasn’t enough for the reeling Yankees, who have lost 3-7 in their last 10 games.
