Jewelry thieves raid Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip | Robberies

Traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard South near Fashion Show Mall, Monday, June 24, around 7:10 p.m. ...

Las Vegas police were investigating a theft committed by several people at a jewelry store in the Fashion Show Mall on Monday evening.

Customers at the Nordstrom store on the northwest side of the mall were told to leave the building and the doors were locked around 6:10 p.m., according to a potential customer.

The Metropolitan Police Department posted on X that it was investigating a theft, not a shooting.

“Upon arrival, officers observed that several individuals dressed in dark clothing had stolen several items from a jewelry store,” Lt. Braden Schrag said in a text message around 7:30 p.m. “Detectives from the Commercial Robbery Unit are on scene and the investigation is ongoing.”

A press release from Metro said the thieves “took a large amount of jewelry and fled. There were reports of gunshots in the store, but this information has so far been unsubstantiated.”

Metro did not comment on whether the situation is similar to the mass thefts that have occurred across the country in recent months.
