NFL and Hallmark team up for Chiefs Christmas love story

The film follows the relationship between a Chiefs fan and a Chiefs employee.

Kansas City, Missouri, will be in the spotlight in Hallmark’s new Chiefs-themed movie, “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.”

According to a press release for the film, the story centers on Alana Higman, a member of a family who are huge fans of the Kansas City Chiefs. She forms a close bond with the Chiefs’ fan engagement director as he judges the family for a “Fan of the Year” contest. Hallmark, NFL, the Chiefs and Skydance Sports have teamed up to produce the film, according to the press release.

“Production on the film begins next month and will be shot entirely on location in Kansas City, Missouri, including the legendary GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. This will mark the first time the world’s loudest stadium has been used as a filming location for a Hallmark movie,” the press release said.

The film stars Tyler Hynes as an engagement coordinator, Hunter King as a huge fan and Ed Begley Jr. as King’s character’s grandfather.

“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on such a unique project,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a statement included in the press release. “As a club, we are proud to explore new ways to grow our brand and reach new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fan bases and gives us the opportunity to showcase the energy and tradition of Chiefs Kingdom on one of the most watched channels during the holiday season.”

Hallmark, a Kansas City-based brand, will partner with the Chiefs to promote the film, which is set to premiere during their 15th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event.

“This film marks the ultimate celebration of a long-standing collaboration between the two groundbreaking KC-based brands and officially unites Hallmarkies and Chiefs Kingdom like never before,” the press release states.

The press release also announced that the Kansas City skyline would be illuminated purple and red starting at sunset on Tuesday to celebrate the collaboration between the two Kansas City brands.
