Suri Cruise renounces her famous surname at the graduation ceremony, which Tom apparently missed because of the Eras Tour

Suri Cruise is reportedly the youngest celebrity child to drop her father’s last name.

The 18-year-old graduated from high school on June 21st, with her famous mother Katie Holmes by her side. In photos she received, Page SixThe Dawson’s Creek The graduate celebrated the milestone with her teenage daughter outside the United Palace Theater in Manhattan, where the ceremony took place.

For the occasion, Suri wore a white summer dress under her bright red graduation gown, while Holmes wore matching light yellow pleated trousers and a long-sleeved collared shirt.

Later, several media outlets revealed that Suri had been referred to as “Suri Noelle” instead of “Suri Cruise” in the program for her school’s graduation ceremony. Page Six The report included a photo of the graduation brochure, attributed to celebrity news outlet Backgrid, with the name “Suri Noelle” circled. The nickname is likely a tribute to her 45-year-old mother, whose middle name is Noelle.

The same weekend as her high school graduation, Suri’s father, Tom Cruise, was among the celebrity guests at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour on June 22 at London’s Wembley Stadium. Cruise and Holmes, who married in November 2006, divorced in June 2012 after five years of marriage. The former couple had their only child together in April 2006.

Earlier this month, the 18-year-old hinted at her college plans in a viral TikTok video. In the now-deleted clip, posted by one of Suri’s classmates, the high school seniors can be seen showing off their college sweatshirts. Suri seemingly revealed that she will be attending Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the fall as she wore a red sweatshirt with the logo of her new alma mater.

It’s currently unclear whether Suri’s name change to “Suri Noelle” is a permanent, legal adjustment or a professional decision, but it comes amid a spate of celebrity children – namely the children of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – who have decided to forgo their famous surnames.

Last month, People reported that Jolie and Pitt’s 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, was listed in the Playbill program as “Vivienne Jolie” for The outsider on Broadway. Just a few weeks earlier, her older sister Shiloh had officially requested to drop “Pitt” from her surname on her 18th birthday, according to documents TMZ.

Meanwhile, a video circulating online had previously revealed that the former couple’s 19-year-old daughter, Zahara, was introduced by her university’s fraternity as Zahara Marley Jolie, also omitting her father’s last name.

The name changes came amid speculation about Pitt’s alleged estrangement from his children and an ongoing legal battle over shares in the former couple’s French winery, Château Miraval. Mr and Mrs Smith The two co-stars separated in 2016 after two years of marriage and twelve years together. They are also parents of sons Maddox (22), Pax (20) and Knox (also 15).
