Tycho announces new album “Infinite Health” and releases new song

Tycho has announced a new LP, Infinite healthwhich will be released on August 30th via Mom + Pop in the US and Ninja Tune in the rest of the world. Listen to the new single “Phantom” below.

Infinite health is about “hope for the future and a requiem for the past,” explained Scott Hansen. “I kept thinking about the scene with the highest water mark in Fear and disgust: The author sits at a typewriter, looks out a window at his past and tries to find meaning in the chaos. Infinite health is about creating a space for healing and reflection, a mantra for spiritual, emotional and physical healing. Ultimately, all we have is our health – both physical and mental – and we wish our family and friends infinite health. In this respect, infinite health is a welcome and an imperative.”

On the album, the producer focuses “on breaks, drums and rhythmic elements. He then uses that as a basis and lets the entire instrumentation follow that pattern, and not the other way around.”

Of “Phantom,” Hansen said, “I wanted it to feel like a mix of lights in a nightclub with an unknown entity. The Phantom; a moving and changing intelligence that serves as a conduit, perhaps a deeper understanding of what lies beneath the surface of all this. It’s also about coming to terms with mortality (the Phantom is the ever-present specter of mortality).”
