Princeton Review magazine has named Hampden-Sydney to its 2024 list of Best Value Colleges, making it one of only 209 institutions in the country to achieve this ranking.

The Princeton Review’s list of “Best Value Colleges” is based on a combination of institutional and student survey data, including academic requirements, affordability, and graduate career opportunities, and was compiled from more than 650 colleges and universities.

From The Princeton Review: “…the schools we selected earned our highest return on investment (ROI) ratings in this year’s analysis of our survey data. Our ROI ratings are based on more than 40 data points covering academic achievement, affordability, and career preparation.” Hampden-Sydney earned an ROI of 90 out of 99.

“It is gratifying to once again be one of the Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges and to have our third place in the ranking of the best alumni networks confirmed,” says College President Larry Stimpert“We are also very pleased that our ranking of the best schools for internships has risen to third place.”

Although the list of best value colleges is not ordered hierarchically, The Princeton Review gives seven categories of rankings for this project: Top 50 Best Value Colleges, Top 20 Best Value Colleges with No Demonstrated Need, Top 20 Best Alumni Networks, Top 20 Best Schools for Internships, Top 20 Best Career Placement, Top 20 Best Schools for Financial Aid, Top 20 Best Schools for Positive Impact. Hampden-Sydney ranks #3 in the Top 20 Best Alumni Networks (private schools) and #3 in the Top 20 Best Schools for Internships (private schools).

“We are pleased that Hampden-Sydney continues to be recognized for its exceptional alumni network,” says Vice President for College Advancement Heather Krajewski. “The camaraderie within our fraternity and the commitment of our alumni to providing our students with an exceptional campus experience and lifelong connections that bridge generations is unique and genuine. We are proud to once again be celebrated for this hallmark of Hampden-Sydney culture.”

H-SC holds a special place in the Commonwealth, joining only three other Virginia universities on this list: Virginia Tech, the College of William & Mary, and the University of Richmond.
