The Capitol Theatre and Playland open the Summer Sounds concert series

Celebrating the arrival of summer, Playland has officially announced the Summer Sounds Concert Series, a first-time collaboration with the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. From July through September, the legendary “Original Rock Palace” will bring ten nights of family-friendly live music and entertainment to the beach destination and historic amusement park, opening a new chapter for two beloved local treasures. With a focus on familiar favorites from polished tribute acts, Summer Sounds will honor Bon Jovi, the Grateful Dead, Tom Petty and more, as well as a number of special performances for children.

In a press release, Playland CEO Evonne Keeler commented on the new partnership: “We are thrilled to partner with the Capitol Theatre to provide live music performances that visitors of all generations can enjoy and appreciate. This collaboration is just one of the ways Playland seeks to expand its reach in the community through new and extensive arts and culture programs. In addition to our diverse range of attractions, from the iconic amusement park to the beach and pool, arcades, restaurants and more, Playland is constantly working to expand its offerings as part of our vision to be a place of exploration, culture and community.”

The Summer Sounds Concert Series kicks off next Saturday, July 6th with the performance of 1 Wild Night – A Bon Jovi Tribute. The concert begins at 7pm on Playland’s main stage; attendees can find additional cover sets on alternate Saturdays at the same time and location through the end of the summer. Shows to follow include Jacknife Lori – 90’s Alt Rock Hits, Half Step – Grateful Dead Tribute, Damn The Torpedoes – Tom Petty Concert Experience and Taylor’s Version – A Swiftie Dance Party – a classic event from the Cap.

On Sunday, July 7 – and every other Sunday through September 1 – at 2 p.m., visitors looking for family-friendly fun can enjoy shows from the Rock and Roll Playhouse, which brings the spirit of the Capitol Theatre’s long-standing rock reputation to the next generation of listeners. Translating the biggest hits from music’s biggest names into age-appropriate sing-alongs, the Rock and Roll Playhouse introduces kids to classic rock, new wave, pop punk and more through engaging family experiences. At Playland, families can expect favorites from Queen, Talking Heads, Taylor Swift, Blink 182, the Beatles and more.
