“People should be together”

The actor and director recently told PEOPLE: “I will not allow my heart to be hardened.”

Kevin Costner is confident that he will find love after the divorce.

At the premiere of Horizon: An American Sagathe first of a series of films in which he directs and stars, said the Oscar winner Extra When asked if she could find love again: “My heart? Well, people are meant to stay together. So I’m sure that could happen to me.”

Costner, 69, also told the outlet about his meticulous commitment to getting his passion project off the ground horizon on the big screen.

“I’m really happy with the film. The reason I wanted to direct it was because I wanted to – I necessary it – to be what I dreamed of,” he said. “If you don’t like it, that’s my fault. And if you do, know that every little detail was meant with the intention that I knew you could understand.”

Costner and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner have finalized their divorce after she originally filed in May 2023. They have three children together, Cayden (17), Hayes (15) and Grace (14), and Costner is also father to adult children Annie, Lily, Joe and Liam. Christine, 50, is now dating her boyfriend Josh Connor.

He recently told PEOPLE he could imagine falling in love again. “Yeah, I think everyone would like to be in love,” Costner said. “There’s such a good feeling associated with that. It might have to be defined differently, but yeah, I love the idea of ​​that possibility.”

“I will not allow my heart to be hardened,” he added.

In an interview with Howard Stern earlier this month, the Yellowstone Star clarified that he and singer Jewel were never together despite rumors following his divorce.

“No, Jewel and I are friends. We’ve never dated,” he said. “She’s special and I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have. She’s special to me. She’s beautiful enough to date.”

Costner added of his friendship with Jewel, 50: “I’ve had text conversations with her, and she’s so smart and she’s been through a lot herself, and so we have a friendship. But we’re not in a relationship and we haven’t dated.”

“She’s beautiful and smart enough to do all of those things. It just never happened to us,” Costner explained. “She’s everything you imagine she would be, but it just didn’t happen.”
