Jury for the 6th International Biennale Cartoon Competition announced

TEHRAN – The Iran Public Libraries Foundation has announced the jury for the 6th edition of the International Biennial Book Cartoon Contest, a high-profile international competition that showcases the perspectives of national and international artists in the fields of books and reading.

The jury consists of renowned international and Iranian cartoonists, including Cristina Bernazzani from Italy, Hicabi Demirci from Turkey and Fan Lintao from China.

The jury also includes the Iranian cartoonists Masoud Shojai Tabatabai, Mohammadreza Doostmohammadi, Jaber Asadi and Shahram Shirzadi.

This distinguished group of artists will review the submissions and select the winners of the competition, considering caricature as a language understandable to all people around the world.

In addition, a special exhibition featuring selected works from previous editions of the Biennale opened on June 18 at the National Library of Tatarstan in Kazan, Russia.

Numerous personalities from Russian and Iranian culture and art took part in the event.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the Iran Public Libraries Foundation and in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan and the National Library of Tatarstan, features 40 outstanding works from five editions of the International Biennial Book Cartoon Contest, including an impressive selection of 30 works by Iranian cartoonists and 10 works by their Russian colleagues.

The 6th International Biennial Cartoon Contest, organized by the Iran Public Libraries Foundation (IPLF) under the leadership of Masoud Shojaei Tabatabaei, will be held on the themes of “Books, Children and Family,” “Books, Leisure, Joy and Rest,” “Books, Digital Age and Artificial Intelligence,” “Books, Libraries and Economy,” “Books, Libraries and Cultural and Social Meeting Places,” and “Books, Libraries and Major Social Events.” In addition, “Books, Palestine and Gaza Resistance” will be a side theme of the festival.

Participants can submit their work in two categories: “Professional” (for professional artists) and “Beginner” (for artists who have not previously participated in national and international competitions).

Participation in the competition is open to all professional and novice artists and each artist can submit a maximum of five works on the specified themes to the festival. The use of artificial intelligence in the creation of works will result in disqualification. All handmade and digital works are accepted.

Those interested in participating in the competition can submit their works until August 21 by registering on the festival’s official website.
