(CBS-DETROIT) – Two Michigan men were arrested after an ongoing argument led to a shooting at a home where several people, including six children, were staying, officials said.

At 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, Eastpointe officers responded to a home in the 16000 block of Forest to investigate a report of assault with intent to murder.

When they arrived, they learned that the homeowner was involved in an ongoing dispute with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.

The new boyfriend, who is considered a suspect in this case, is said to have fired several shots at the house where several people, including six children, were present before leaving the area.

Nobody was injured.

Police say the suspect was seen entering his St. Clair County home with another person shortly after the shooting. When they saw officers, they ran into the house and barricaded themselves.

Eastpointe investigators obtained a search warrant, which was executed by the St. Clair County SWAT team and the Port Huron Special Response Team.

Both people were arrested. Police said they seized “several pieces of evidence” at the scene.

The case is pending review by the Macomb County District Attorney’s Office.
