According to the sheriff, an investigation into the recovery of the body and the death of the victim is ongoing at Chatfield Reservoir on Tuesday morning.
South Metro fire crews responded to a water rescue at Chatfield State Park in Littleton around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to a post by the fire department on social media.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the water rescue, the fire department said.
At around 9:15 a.m., the water rescue operation became a body recovery and death investigation after a man was discovered face down in the water, according to a Statement from Jefferson County Sheriff’s OfficeThe cause of death is currently unknown.
“It’s too early to tell,” said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. “We don’t know what we have yet.”
