RIP Shifty Shellshock: Singer from Crazy Town and patient of “Celebrity Rehab” dies at the age of 49

Shifty Shellshock, singer of the rap-rock group Crazy Town and former patient at VH1s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew has died.

Shellshock, whose real name was Seth Binzer, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Monday, June 24, according to The Daily Beast. The cause of death has not yet been announced.

Shellshock’s struggle with addiction was featured on Celebrity rehab, where he spoke openly about his past drug use. Shellshock appeared in seasons 1 and 2 of the show, both of which aired in 2008, where he underwent treatment for his cocaine addiction.

He then appeared in two seasons of Celebrity rehaba spin-off of Sober House.

Shellshock is the latest celebrity to appear Celebrity rehab died. Previously deceased include wrestler Joanie “Chyna” Laurer, who died in 2016 after taking a lethal combination of drugs and alcohol, and more recently, in 2023, actor Tom Sizemore died after suffering a brain aneurysm.

Dr. Drew Pinsky decided to end the show after 6 seasons in 2013. He said at the time: “It is very stressful and very intense for me,” per The Hollywood Reporter“That people question my motives and shoot me because people are getting sick and dying because they have a life-threatening disease, and I’m to blame? Rodney King has a heart attack, and I’m to blame?”

As a musician, Shellshock rose to fame with Crazy Town thanks to the 2000 single “Butterfly”, which appeared on the band’s debut album. The gift of the gameHe later performed as a solo artist.
