Hillary Clinton will publish a new book – her eleventh – on September 17, publisher Simon & Schuster announced on Tuesday.
Hillary Clinton to publish new memoirs in fall
“The book reads like sitting down for a long meal with your smartest, wittiest and most passionate friend,” said Priscilla Painton, editor-in-chief of Simon & Schuster, in a press release. “This is the Hillary that Americans have come to know and love: open, committed, humorous, self-deprecating – and always learning.”
According to the publisher, “Something Lost, Something Gained” will also tell of Clinton’s experiences canoeing with an ex-Nazi who wants to deprogram white supremacists and evacuating women from Afghanistan at the end of the war.
Her most recent memoir — “What Happened,” her account of the 2016 election — sold 300,000 copies in its first week, Ron Charles of the Washington Post reported in 2017. In his review for the Post, David Weigel described the book as “raw,” “refreshing,” and by turns “bitter” and “cheesy”: “a meditation on powerful women, a dry run for the speeches Clinton will give for the rest of her life.”
Clinton has also co-written a crime novel with Louise Penny and several children’s books, including two with her daughter Chelsea.
Former President Bill Clinton will also publish his memoirs this fall: “Citizen,” which deals with his life after his presidency, will be published by Knopf on November 17.
