“Beaver County Boom!” returns this Saturday and is eagerly anticipated as one of the annual highlights of the local entertainment scene.

In addition to a massive fireworks display by Zambelli Internationale over the confluence of the Beaver and Ohio rivers, there’s also plenty of live music you won’t want to miss, so here’s a schedule to help you plan your fun.

Main stage entertainment for Beaver County Boom!

At the Bridgewater end of the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Entertainment program of the Squonk Opera

At the intersection of Route 51 and Riverside Drive in Bridgewater, Squonk Opera presents “Brouhaha,described as “an immersive outdoor spectacle full of exuberant music, stunning images and the excitement of audience participation.”

At the center of this wild activity is the squonkcordion, a massive musical instrument powered by enormous bellows topped by towering tuba bells. At the climax of the performance, Squonk invites the audience to play this foghorn organ, welcoming them to experience the joy of a brass band and the fireworks of community.”

The performances take place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and there will also be an experiential and interactive show at 4:00 p.m.

Free shuttle service available

Brady’s Run Ice Arena

Since parking is limited in Bridgewater, the event management recommends the free shuttle service.

There are two pick-up and drop-off points:

  • Brady’s Run Ice Arena, which leads to the former Wright Auto Dealership on Route 51. Since the north and south lanes of Route 51 are closed in this area, pedestrian traffic is permitted up to the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

  • New Brighton Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2200 Concord St., New Brighton.

  • Parking is available on the treatment facility’s green area. The shuttle will take you past the Veterans Memorial Bridge (Route 65).

Shuttles will run from 3:00 p.m. until 30 minutes after the fireworks show. Depending on traffic, shuttles are expected to run every 10-15 minutes. There is a handicap accessible shuttle and handicap parking available at each location.

Things to do at Monaca Riverfront Park

As part of Monaca Community Day, there will be live entertainment, food trucks and vendors on the Saturday before the fireworks.

Activities at the Rochester Riverfront Stage

Rochester is also a prime location for pre-fireworks fun.

Beaver County chart-topping acts The Jaggerz will perform at Rochester Riverfront Park on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Zambelli Internationale fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. A Super Car Cruise will be held in the park all afternoon.

The music starts at 12:00 on the Riverfront Stage with singer and guitarist Rychrd Skynrd, followed by Silent Partner at 16:30.

The Rochester Riverfront Stage will also host a concert Friday featuring New Brighton country artist Dawn Savage, whose “Moonshine” will be played on the radio, and then classic rock/outlaw country group The Honky Tonk Heroes at 7:30 p.m.

Bridgewater Summer Festival

There will also be live music at the southern end of Riverside Drive in Bridgewater on June 29th at 8 p.m. with rockers Right Turn Clyde on the River Stage as part of the Bridgewater Summerfest taking place at the same time.

Pods show the boom!

“We also have five small pods spread throughout the county from which we will stream the concert and each of which will have bands playing,” said Gretchen D’Atri, deputy director of Beaver County Recreation and Tourism.

Large screen for boats

At last year’s “Boom on The Bridge!”, which featured country stars Big & Rich as headliners, many boaters and kayakers listened to the music under the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

This year, boaters and kayakers will also be able to watch the concert on a large screen hanging on the bridge.

The screen is open from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
