Singer from the 90s to perform at unusual venue in the Northeast next month

Singer-songwriter Gabrielle will headline a show at a historic landmark in the Northeast.

She headlines Live at the Cathedral in Durham on Saturday 20th July.

From the early 1990s to the turn of the millennium, Gabrielle was one of Britain’s most successful artists.

With two unforgettable number one hits, “Dreams” and “Rise”, a catalogue full of top 10 hits, two quadruple platinum albums, two BRIT Awards, two MOBOs and an Ivor Novello, everything she touched seemed to turn to gold.

But after some time, she has now reconnected with her original fans and has also been captivated by a new generation.

The impetus came from her spectacular performances on “The Masked Singer,” which led to her 2021 album “Do It Again” entering the charts at number four, her highest chart position in twenty years.

Even the era’s iconic artists praised her as a major influence on their music – first with a personal invitation from Adele to perform at her big shows in Hyde Park, and then when Stormzy asked her to appear in the video for “Mel Made Me Do It.”

The track’s dramatic monologue referred directly to her cultural influence: “Gabrielle once told us dreams can come true, and that sentence emancipated the minds of our pioneers.”

The singer released her eighth studio album, “A Place In Your Heart,” in May, which continues her creative collaboration with producer and co-writer Ian Barter, who has also worked with Paloma Faith and Amy Winehouse.

Gabrielle said: “I really enjoyed writing and recording the songs for this new album with Ian Barter.

“I hope you enjoy the record as much as I enjoyed making it, and thank you for allowing me to have a place in your hearts for the past 30 years.”

Tickets cost £71.50 including booking fee and are available here.
