Christopher James Joseph Irvine

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee – Christopher Irvine, 60, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2024.

He was born on October 27, 1963 in Springfield, Pennsylvania, the second youngest of ten children to Athill and Alice Irvine. He was a star athlete at Yarmouth High School before studying economics at the University of Maine, where he also earned a degree in aquaculture with a concentration in blue lobsters. Shortly thereafter, Chris began his career in sales and service for paper manufacturers at Nalco Chemical Company. After moving to several companies and states throughout his career, he retired in 2021 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing guitar and recording music with his friends, riding his golf cart around his neighborhood accompanied by his dogs, spending time at the pool, volunteering at McKamey Animal Center, and attending local concerts in downtown Chattanooga.

Chris married Linda Vickery in 1990 and together they raised two daughters before going their separate ways in 2006. Chris enjoyed playing with his daughters, coaching their youth soccer teams and encouraging their love of the outdoors through camping, swimming and hiking.

In 2007, Chris met Elizabeth Harris and after six years of dating, the two married in 2013. They shared many beautiful memories together and adopted four dogs that meant everything to him.

We will always remember Chris for his love of dogs and music, his mischievous sense of humor, and his generosity towards others.

Chris’ father Athill, his mother Alice and his brothers Seldon and Timothy predeceased him. He leaves behind his beloved wife Elizabeth, his daughters Goldie and Clara, his siblings Cynthia, Thomas, Susan, William, Bonita and Gordon and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family has asked those who wish to express their condolences to please send a donation in lieu of flowers to the following address:
