According to reports, the sister of Hamas leader Haniyeh was killed by the Israeli army

The sister of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was reportedly killed in an Israeli military attack on the Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Israeli media reported on Tuesday morning, citing Palestinian sources.

In April, prosecutors filed charges against 57-year-old Zebah Abdel Salem Haniyeh, another sister of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh who lives in Tel Sheva.

She was arrested on suspicion of links to Hamas and of inciting and supporting terrorism and placed under house arrest in May.

Three of Haniyeh’s sons were killed in an Israeli Air Force airstrike in the Gaza Strip in April.

IDF advances into Shati

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on Tuesday morning that, based on intelligence from the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet (Israel’s domestic intelligence agency), an Israeli Air Force plane attacked two buildings in Shati and Daraj Tuffah in the northern Gaza Strip.

The military said the buildings were used by Hamas terrorists who were involved in planning the terrorist attacks on Israel and the October 7 hostage-taking. The insurgents reportedly operated from a school.

The Israeli army said it had taken precautions to reduce harm to civilians by relying on various intelligence sources, using information from aerial surveillance and using precise munitions.

The Israel Defense Forces added that Hamas continues to abuse civilian structures and use them for military purposes, which is a violation of international law. The statement stressed that the terrorist organization uses the civilian population in Gaza as human shields.
