When news of Taylor’s death became public, fire departments and emergency services throughout Washington County and Mon Valley shared condolences on social media.
“Rhys’ dedication and service to his community will never be forgotten,” said the Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Department.
As an escort carried Taylor’s body through the area, a flag was raised outside Pleasant Hills Station.
“Rest in peace, brother. Fly high. We’ll take it from here,” said the Rostraver Community Volunteer Fire Department.
“Donora may be on the other side of the county, but the fire department is definitely a brotherhood,” said the Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Department.
