Wand and Sword releases 5th action visual by Lihanna Owenzaus

A fifth new action key visual was for the coming Wistoria: Magic wand and swordwith Lihanna Owenzaus, the best sixth grader at Ligarden Magic Academy. The anime will air in Japan from July 7, 2024.

Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man Action director, Black clover Director (up to episode 152) and chief director (from episode 153)) directs the anime and also works as screenwriter and script writer.

Other staff include Sayaka Ono (Cross Ange Rondo from Angel and Dragon, Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-) as character designer, Naomi Nakano (Single levels) as a colour designer, Yuki Maeda (Black Clover: Sword of the Sorcerer King) as artistic director, Ayako Otsuki (The story of the outcasts) as composting manager, Hiroto Morishita (7. Time Loop: The villain enjoys a carefree life, married to her worst enemy!) as sound director and Yuuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) as a music composer. ACT AS And Bandai Namco Pictures take over the animation production.

Raita Sunaga (Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-), Yoshiro Harada (Dairugger XV Mechanical engineer) and Ryo Akizuki (Princess Chief Attendant of the Crown Akizuki and prop designers are also involved in the series as monster designers.

The anime series is based on the adventure fantasy manga by Danmachi‘S Fujino Omori and illustrated by Toshi Aoiwhich was first serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on December 9, 2020. Ten tankobon volumes have been published as of June 2024. Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English after licensing it in 2021.

Crunchyroll will stream Wistoria: Magic wand and sword worldwide, except Japan. The synopsis is described as follows:

A studious boy named Will enters a magic academy in the hopes of becoming a great wizard. Unfortunately, his plan has a fatal flaw: he cannot use magic. Faced with the cold stares of his classmates and teachers, Will sometimes feels discouraged, but he fights on with unwavering determination. He cannot use a wand, but he can wield a sword in his fight to reach the top of a world ruled by magic. All he has to do is believe in his own unique strengths and remember the promise he made to someone important to him…
