Giffin receives Service Above Self Award from Rotary Club Potsdam

POTSDAM – Traci Giffin from Potsdam was honored with the Service Above Self Award at the annual meeting of the Rotary Club Potsdam on June 12.

Giffin, president of the Potsdam Holiday Fund, received the award in recognition of her outstanding service to the Potsdam community.

Giffin received her associate degree in hospitality from Adirondack Community College, now known as SUNY Adirondack, in 1997. She then pursued a career in hospitality, working for Sheraton Hotels, Marriott, Best Western, Holiday Inn and several others for 16 years.

In 2012, Traci moved to Potsdam with her family. She started working in Clarkson’s human resources department and is now a benefits manager.

Traci began volunteering as an “elf” for the Potsdam Holiday Fund and became a member of the board a few years later. She has discovered a new passion and dedicates her time each holiday season to helping families in need. Her birthday falls during Santa’s workshop and as a gift to herself, she wants to volunteer as an elf every year.

Several years ago, Traci was nominated for the role of President of the Potsdam Holiday Fund; she accepted the role and continues to hold it to this day.

The Rotary Club Potsdam meets every Wednesday at 12 noon in the community hall of the Potsdam City Hall and online. Guests are welcome.
